“Our main interest is art in any form and we welcome everyone who is interested in any artistic endeavour, even if it is making cupcakes or knitting. The only condition is that it is not political,” he adds.
This is also the principle for the group who is hosting the FFF 2011 in Seri Manjung.
“This in an alternative platform to deal with various issues concerning the community without any political agenda,” says member.
Otai Manjung, and his friends (they do not have an official group yet) have been working in the local communities there to educate them of their rights.
The FFF is a platform to discuss issues openly without any political influence, something which is important in a tourist destination like Seri Manjung that is currently seeing growing industrialisation, he says.
“When there is massive and rapid development in an area, it is important for the people living there to know their rights as it will affect their lives. The new media is an effective tool for raising this awareness and we have noticed that there is a growing interest in it here.
The other film that will be screened is Senyap.... Tersentak which deals with electoral reform. Both screenings are private and by invitation only. FFF 2011 will be held at the Lead View Hotel in Seri Manjung on Oct 15, 8pm; and at Menora, Taman Ria, Ipoh on Oct 16, also at 8pm. For address of venue and synopses, and to get your free invite, visit http://freedomfilmfest.komas.org/ or call Otai Manjung at 017-887 1887 (for Seri Manjung).
